Vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED)

A vehicle-borne improvised explosive device, or VBIED, is a car, truck, SUV, trailer, or other ground vehicle adapted to carry and deliver an explosive charge. In the Boko Haram Insurgency, Boko Haram and ISWAP have used VBIEDs as assault and breach weapons against military positions in northeast Nigeria and the Lake Chad basin.
