The Enhanced Laser Guided Training Round (ELGTR), sold as BDU-59B/B, is Lockheed Martin's U.S.-made live-fire Paveway II training round. Official product material says it has been deployed since 1992, gives aircrew and terminal air controllers realistic GBU-10/12/16 practice, and is a cost-saving alternative to expending tactical laser-guided bombs.
ELGTR is presented as a low-cost way to practice Paveway II employment while preserving tactical laser-guided bomb inventory for real missions.
BDU-59B/B live-fire bomb training system.
About 89 pounds, 75 inches long, and 4 inches in diameter.
Fast facts list roughly 4 meters CEP and roughly 8 meters CE90.
U.S. contract notices directly support Navy and Navy/Marine Corps procurement. Lockheed sources separately identify Royal Canadian Air Force, NATO member-country, Polish, and other international customer contexts.
Lockheed Martin says ELGTR is compatible with F-15, F-16, F/A-18, AV-8B and other aircraft, and a twin-lug carriage sheet shows F-15 integration.
