AMX International AMX

The AMX International AMX is an Italian-Brazilian light attack and reconnaissance jet developed by Aeritalia, Aermacchi, and Embraer. The type entered Italian service in 1988, remained in combat use for decades, and accumulated documented deployments from Bosnia and Kosovo to Afghanistan, Libya, and anti-Daesh operations in Kuwait.

Italy assigned six AMXs from 103° Gruppo to operations over Bosnia in 1995 as part of Operation Deny Flight, and the type later returned in support of IFOR peacekeepers.

From late 2009, four Italian AMX aircraft deployed to Afghanistan for reconnaissance support, and the fleet later passed 700 combat missions before withdrawal in June 2014.
