Direct proof of use
PAC-3 appears in the Yemen war through Saudi and Emirati Patriot air-defense operations against Houthi missile, rocket, and drone attacks. CSIS Missile Threat states that Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates employed Patriot systems in the Yemeni Civil War and that the Saudi-led coalition engaged Houthi missiles on up to 177 occasions after the first reported intercepts in June 2015.
Missile Defense Advocacy Alliance separately describes Saudi missile defenses as using Patriot PAC-2 and PAC-3 systems while claiming more than 100 Houthi missiles had been intercepted. Defense One reported in August 2016 that Adm. Cecil Haney, then head of U.S. Strategic Command, said Saudi Patriot defenses had engaged Houthi missiles fired into southern Saudi Arabia.

Timeline
Saudi Arabia requested 600 PAC-3 Cost Reduction Initiative missiles in July 2015, months after the Saudi-led coalition entered the Yemen war. By June 2015, CSIS records the first reported Patriot intercepts in the Yemen conflict, and by August 2016 U.S. reporting described Saudi Patriot defenses engaging missiles fired by Houthi forces from Yemen.
CSIS's 2020 study of the missile war in Yemen counted more than 162 reported coalition ballistic-missile intercepts between March 2015 and April 2020. The same study notes that Saudi and Emirati Patriot batteries were largely responsible for those engagements, but also cautions that public information is not detailed enough to assess Patriot technical performance in individual intercepts.

Narrative
The PAC-3 role in the 2014 Yemen Civil War was defensive rather than offensive. Saudi and Emirati Patriot batteries were used to protect coalition forces, Saudi territory, border areas, and critical sites from Houthi missile and drone attacks that expanded after the coalition intervention in 2015.
The Yemen missile-defense record is unusually large for a modern conflict. CSIS describes the Saudi-led coalition's response to Houthi missile activity as a combination of airstrikes against launch systems, interdiction efforts, and active air and missile defenses primarily built around Patriot. That made PAC-3-related Patriot batteries part of a broader coalition effort to limit damage from Houthi launches rather than a weapon used directly inside ground fighting in Yemen.
The public evidence is more precise about Patriot battery employment than about every missile fired. Some individual engagements, including the November 2017 Riyadh airport attack, became disputed because outside analysts questioned whether the incoming warhead was actually intercepted. For that reason, the documented catalog claim is that Saudi and Emirati Patriot forces fielded PAC-3-era Patriot defenses in the conflict, while exact PAC-3 interceptor use is best supported as a system-level role rather than as a verified round-by-round record.
