Direct proof of use
The FV430 Bulldog is directly documented in British service during the 2003 Iraq War's post-invasion Operation Telic phase. MOD image metadata records upgraded FV430 Mk3 Bulldog vehicles arriving in Iraq just before Christmas 2006, with the Royal Green Jackets battalion at Basra Palace described as the first unit to use them on operations and as using Bulldogs for patrols in Basra City.
The Tank Museum identifies its FV432 Mark 3 Bulldog 2 example as a vehicle that served in Basra, Iraq, with 1st Battalion, Royal Green Jackets on Operation Telic 9 in 2007. Contemporary Defense Update reporting also described modernized British FV-430 Mk3 Bulldog APCs based at Basra, Iraq, and said initial deliveries went to British Army units there.

Narrative
In Iraq, Bulldog's documented role was protected mobility for British troops rather than a new offensive armored platform. The MOD image metadata describes the vehicles as carrying out patrols in Basra City, while the July 2007 upgrade announcement says the modified FV430 could carry infantry who dismounted to operate, along with a crew of two.
The Iraq deployment followed urgent upgrades to older FV430-family armored personnel carriers. Defense Update described the Iraq vehicles as modernized FV-430 Mk3 Bulldog APCs with new armor kits, improved engine and transmission work, and air conditioning. The MOD image metadata likewise emphasized additional armor, air conditioning, and improved engine and transmission features for Basra use.
The public sources support British Army use in Basra and wider Iraq operational service from late 2006 into 2007. They do not establish every unit allocation, all patrol incidents, or a complete count of Bulldogs physically deployed in Iraq at any one time.
