German forces used the Dingo for protected patrol and force-protection movement in Afghanistan, including a 2020 Camp Marmal driver account that placed a Dingo as the lead vehicle when patrols left camp.

The ATF Dingo is a German all-protected wheeled mobility vehicle built around patrol, convoy, command, reconnaissance, ambulance, and specialist support missions. Its Dingo 2 family combines a militarized Unimog-based chassis, a protected safety cell, remote-weapon-station options, and mine, IED, ballistic, and NBC protection; German and allied forces used it in Afghanistan, Belgian MINUSMA troops operated Dingo 2 vehicles in Mali, and Germany supplied Dingos to Kurdish forces in Iraq and later to Ukraine.
Role in Conflicts
Belgian forces operated MPPV Dingo 2 vehicles with the German-led MINUSMA multisensor/reconnaissance element around Gao; Belgian Dingo vehicles were hit by IEDs in January 2020 while moving in convoy or returning from reconnaissance missions.
Germany delivered five Dingo 1 protected command/function vehicles to Peshmerga forces in northern Iraq as part of military support against Islamic State, and German reporting described Peshmerga training on the Dingo during the handover.
Germany supplied Ukraine with 50 Dingo all-protection transport vehicles, trained Ukrainian crews, drivers, and maintainers in Germany, and later listed them as delivered; Oryx subsequently cataloged visually documented Ukrainian ATF Dingo losses.
