Project 1258 Yevgenya-class minesweeper is a Soviet inshore mine-countermeasures class built by Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard with glass-reinforced-plastic hulls. The family was produced for Soviet and export service from the late 1960s, and Ukraine's former RT-214/Henichesk example became the class's best-documented 2014 Russia-Ukraine War loss.

Role in Conflicts

Ukraine operated Henichesk (U360), a Project 1258E inshore minesweeper, during the 2014 Russia-Ukraine War; its commander kept the vessel under Ukrainian control during Russia's 2014 Crimea seizure, and Ukraine says the ship was lost while carrying out a combat mission near the Kinburn Spit in June 2022.

Henichesk Service Context

The class page is best supported through the Ukrainian vessel Henichesk, formerly RT-214, because it links the Soviet-built Project 1258E design to documented Ukrainian service and loss reporting.

Variants

Project 1258 was the Soviet Korund/Yevgenya inshore minesweeper family. KCHF records RT-46 and Ukraine's RT-214/Henichesk as Project 1258E examples, while Western references commonly group the class under the RT-300 or Yevgenya names.

The design combines a fiberglass hull, mine-search sonar, sweep and mine-destruction gear, a 30 mm AK-306 gun, and an Igla-1 self-defense missile fit; RT-233's 2023-2024 fleet movement gives the class a sourced but limited 2014 Russia-Ukraine War connection rather than confirmed combat-loss evidence.

The class combines a monolithic fiberglass vacuum-infusion hull with trawls and unmanned mine-hunting vehicles, and it entered the Russia-Ukraine war record when Ukrainian intelligence said it disabled the Baltic Fleet lead ship Aleksandr Obukhov at Baltiysk in October 2024.
