Direct proof of use
French Air and Space Force material identifies the Mirage 2000-5F as engaged in the Levant during Operation Hamilton in 2018. Operation Hamilton was the French component of the U.S., UK, and French strikes carried out during the Syrian Civil War after the Douma chemical-weapons allegation.
Contemporary reporting on the French post-strike briefing gives the clearest aircraft-level role: five French Rafale fighters were supported by four Mirage 2000 aircraft, and the Rafales were escorted by Mirage 2000s during the long-range mission. The same report attributes the force package details to French Chief of the Defence Staff Gen. Francois Lecointre.

Timeline
On 7 April 2018, the Douma chemical-weapons allegation triggered U.S., UK, and French statements that framed the later strikes as a response to Syrian government chemical-weapons use. The OPCW Fact-Finding Mission later reported reasonable grounds that a toxic chemical containing reactive chlorine was used in Douma, while noting that its mandate did not assign responsibility.
During the night of 13-14 April 2018, France, the United States, and the United Kingdom launched strikes against Syrian chemical-weapons-related targets. U.S. defense officials described 105 weapons used against three targets; French reporting on the aircraft package listed Rafales as the SCALP-launching aircraft and four Mirage 2000s as escort or protection aircraft.

Narrative
The open record places the Mirage 2000 in the Syrian Civil War through a narrow, state-on-state strike episode rather than continuous French air operations over Syria. The documented Mirage 2000 aircraft were French Mirage 2000-5F fighters assigned to the protective fighter component of Operation Hamilton while Rafale aircraft and French naval units delivered French cruise missiles.
The Mirage 2000 role was therefore distinct from the strike weapons themselves. French and U.S. public statements describe the broader operation as an attack on chemical-weapons-related facilities, while the aircraft-specific reporting identifies the Mirage 2000s as support for the Rafale strike aircraft on a roughly ten-hour mission from French bases with multiple aerial refuelings.
Sources do not identify the Mirage 2000s as having fired missiles in the April 2018 operation. The available direct evidence supports French operation of Mirage 2000-5F fighters as escort and protection aircraft within the coalition strike package.
