Direct proof of use
Zuzana 2 howitzers are documented in the 2014 Russia-Ukraine War through Slovak Ministry of Defence transfer records and later reporting on Ukrainian combat employment. Slovakia signed the first contract for eight Zuzana 2 self-propelled gun howitzers for Ukraine on 1 June 2022, reported the first batch delivered on 13 August 2022, and said Ukraine had taken over the eighth gun by 16 January 2023.
CZDEFENCE reported on 30 January 2023 that Slovak-made Zuzana 2 self-propelled wheeled howitzers were already actively engaged in combat in Ukraine, with eight guns in the country and videos of earlier delivered guns' deployment circulating publicly.

Timeline
The public record begins with the June 2022 commercial contract between Ukraine and Slovakia for eight Zuzana 2 systems. Slovakia announced the first delivered batch in August 2022 and the completed eight-gun battery in January 2023.
A second stream of Zuzana 2s came through a Denmark, Germany, and Norway financed project for Ukraine. CZDEFENCE described the October 2022 agreement as covering 16 additional guns, while the German government's April 2025 archive listed nine Zuzana 2 wheeled howitzers already delivered and seven more in preparation or implementation under the joint project.

Narrative
In Ukrainian service, the Zuzana 2 filled a 155 mm wheeled self-propelled artillery role rather than a separate missile or air-defense role. The relevant battlefield function was mobile indirect fire support for Ukrainian forces, with the system's NATO-standard 155 mm caliber and wheeled chassis placing it alongside other Western-supplied tube artillery.
The initial Slovak delivery was a compact battery of eight guns. Slovakia's defence ministry framed the delivery as support for Ukraine's defense against Russian aggression, and the completed-battery announcement tied the transfer directly to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Later donor-funded deliveries expanded the Zuzana 2 pool through newly produced Slovak systems financed by Denmark, Germany, and Norway.
The available public sources directly support Ukrainian possession, transfer, delivery, and reported combat employment. They do not establish a complete unit-by-unit order of battle, every firing location, or battle-damage effects for individual Zuzana 2 guns.
