Documented Use

Direct Proof Of Use

Open-source reporting placed TRLG-230 rockets and compatible Roketsan multiple rocket launchers in Ukrainian service during 2022. Oryx listed TRLG-230 guided multiple rocket launchers among Turkish military equipment delivered to Ukraine, while The War Zone reported that Ukrainian forces were employing Roketsan MBRL launchers with precision-guided 230 mm TRLG-230 rockets against Russian forces.

The public record remained limited because Turkish and Ukrainian officials did not announce the transfer in the same way as many Western aid packages. The War Zone attributed the first delivery information to Oryx sources inside Ukraine's Ministry of Defense and noted separate Middle East Eye reporting that at least 50 rockets and an unspecified number of wheeled launchers had been transferred and used in combat.

Fielding By Ukrainian Artillery

By April 2023, reporting tied the system to Ukraine's 49th Artillery Brigade. TurDef said images from MilitaryLand showed a TRLG-230 missile carrying and loading vehicle supplying ammunition to a TRLG-230 missile launch system, with a BMC support truck and a 6x6 Kamaz launching truck.

Army Recognition separately reported that pictures shared by the 49th Separate Artillery Brigade on April 19, 2023 showed the unit using a Turkish-made Multi-Barrel Rocket Launcher as part of its artillery arsenal. Its report described the launcher family as compatible with TRG-230, TRLG-230, TRG-300, KHAN, and other Roketsan munitions.

Operational Role

In Ukrainian service, the TRLG-230 filled a long-range precision-fires role alongside other rocket-artillery systems. Roketsan describes the missile as a 230 mm laser-guided round for accurate fire between 20 and 70 km, launched from the MCL artillery weapon system or other compatible interfaces.

The weapon's laser seeker made its role distinct from coordinate-only guided rockets. Roketsan lists artillery, air-defense systems, radar sites, assembly areas, logistics facilities, and C3 facilities among intended target categories; The War Zone emphasized that the laser-guided mode could support attacks on moving targets when a ground or airborne designator marked the target.
