The TRG-230 is Roketsan's coordinate-guided 230 mm artillery rocket for the company's multi-barrel rocket launcher family, designed for precision strikes at 20-70 km against high-priority ground targets. This relationship-only record separates the baseline GPS/GLONASS-aided INS missile from the laser-guided TRLG-230, whose conflict-use evidence is cataloged on its own page.

Family And Launcher Context

TRG-230 sits between Roketsan's smaller guided rockets and larger TRG-300 family. The baseline missile is a podded, surface-to-surface guided rocket; the TRLG-230 adds terminal laser homing, and UAV-230 adapts the 230 mm missile line for air launch.

Baseline guidance

Roketsan lists GPS/GLONASS-aided INS guidance and 10 m-or-better CEP for TRG-230, without the laser seeker that distinguishes TRLG-230.

Launch interface

Official product literature says the missile can be fired from Roketsan's MBRL weapon system or other platforms with compatible interfaces and carried in a ready-to-launch insulated pod.

Conflict evidence boundary

Open sources checked for Ukraine and Nagorno-Karabakh identify TRLG-230, not the baseline TRG-230. This page is therefore relationship-only until direct conflict-use sourcing for TRG-230 is available.

Variants

Roketsan uses TRG-230 for the baseline coordinate-guided 230 mm surface-to-surface missile. Closely related 230 mm family members add a laser seeker or adapt the rocket for air launch.

The catalog's TRLG-230 page covers the laser-seeker derivative separately because open conflict-use evidence in Ukraine and Nagorno-Karabakh identifies that laser-guided member rather than the baseline TRG-230.

UAV-230 / IHA-230Air-launched derivative

Roketsan's UAV-230 literature describes an air-to-surface ballistic missile with 150+ km range and UCAV integration, while Janes reports that Roketsan developed it from the 230 mm TRG-230 surface-to-surface missile.

Timeline

TRG-230 Key Events

  1. TRG-230 family appears in Roketsan's IDEF lineup

Roketsan's IDEF 2017 news listed its artillery-rocket and guided-missile family in the same product area that now includes the TRG-230, placing the missile within the company's late-2010s guided-rocket portfolio.

  2. Defence Turkey profiles TRG-230

Defence Turkey described TRG-230 as a newly introduced Roketsan surface-to-surface missile family member for 20-70 km fires from the company's multi-purpose MBRL or other compatible launch interfaces.

  3. Bangladesh deliveries reported complete

TurDef reported that Roketsan delivered TRG-230 and TRG-300 surface-to-surface missile systems to Bangladesh between June and late October 2022.

  4. Air-launched derivative enters Turkish Land Forces service

Janes reported that the IHA-230 had entered Turkish Land Forces service and identified it as an air-launched missile developed from the 230 mm TRG-230 surface-to-surface missile.

Its public conflict record is narrow: defense reporting has identified it as the probable missile in the January 2020 Baghdad strike that killed Qassem Soleimani, while official U.S. confirmation of the munition type remains absent.
