The OFd MKM-DV is a Slovak 155 mm high-explosive extended-range artillery projectile with a base-bleed gas generator. MSM Group lists the modernized round with a 43.55 kg fuzed projectile mass, a 10 kg explosive filling, and 40 km class range from a 52-caliber gun. Public sources support this page as a relationship-only ammunition record through product data, transfer records, and howitzer compatibility context, not through direct conflict-use evidence for the exact projectile.

Design And Range Context

The OFd MKM-DV belongs to MSM Group's modernized 155 mm high-explosive extended-range line. The base-bleed unit reduces base drag compared with a boat-tail-only shell, while the projectile still depends on a suitable fuze, charge system, and certified 155 mm gun for safe employment.

Base configuration

DV is the base-bleed member of the modernized OFd MKM branch, separated from the OFd MKM boat-tail row and from the OFd M3 full-bore branch in MSM sources.

Sources: 155 mm HE ER-BB (OFd MKM-DV) modernized; 155 mm HE ER-BT (OFd MKM) modernized; 155 mm HE ER FB-BB (OFd M3-DV).

Range class

MSM lists up to 37 km from a 45-caliber gun and up to 40 km from a 52-caliber gun; Defence24 separately describes more than 40 km in Krab certification context.

Evidence limit

The record remains relationship-only because available sources document product identity, exports, and compatibility, but not direct conflict use of this exact projectile.

Variants

MSM and CSG present OFd MKM-DV as the base-bleed member of the modernized OFd MKM 155 mm high-explosive extended-range pair. The wider MSM 155 mm portfolio separates boat-tail, base-bleed, and full-bore projectile bodies, while Polish sources also use OFd MKM DV or EOFd MKM DV for the base-bleed Krab-certified round.

VariantConfigurationDesignation notes
OFd MKMModernized HE ER boat-tail projectile

MSM describes the OFd MKM as the modernized boat-tail counterpart to OFd MKM-DV, with the same 155 mm caliber and a 10 kg high-explosive filling but a shorter listed range than the base-bleed DV round.

OFd M3HE ER full-bore boat-tail projectile

MSM identifies OFd M3 as a full-bore extended-range boat-tail projectile whose bourrelet is replaced by four nubs, distinguishing it from the modernized OFd MKM body.

OFd M3-DVHE ER full-bore base-bleed projectile

MSM lists OFd M3-DV as the full-bore base-bleed variant, with a longer stated maximum range than OFd MKM-DV when fired from a 52-caliber gun.
