Direct proof of use
The BMC Kirpi is documented in Ukrainian service during the 2014 Russia-Ukraine War through transfer reporting, Ukrainian-unit reporting, open-license imagery, and visually confirmed loss tracking. Defense News reported on August 22, 2022, that the Turkish government had delivered an initial batch of 50 used Kirpi mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles to Ukraine under a government agreement rather than a direct BMC export contract.
Ukrainian and defense-media reporting connected the first batch to Ukrainian Marine Corps brigades. Defense Express reported on August 9, 2022, that the first 50 vehicles had been handed over to marine brigades of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, while a later Defense Express report based on ArmyInform described Ukrainian marines operating Kirpi vehicles during counteroffensive-related training and noted that marines had already tested them in combat.

Timeline
The public record begins in early August 2022, when Ukrainian reporting said the first Kirpi batch had reached Ukrainian forces. By late August, Defense News attributed the transfer to Turkish government and industry sources and reported that more deliveries were expected.
In November 2022, ArmyInform imagery republished through Wikimedia Commons showed the 35th Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi Marine Brigade with BMC Kirpi MRAPs. Defense Express, citing ArmyInform, described the vehicles as part of Ukrainian marine assault and movement practice for southern operations.

Narrative
In Ukrainian service, the Kirpi's documented role was protected movement for troops rather than a stand-alone combat system. Sources describe the vehicle as a mine-resistant armored personnel carrier or infantry mobility vehicle, with Ukrainian marines using it for assault movement, blocking positions, and movement with tank, infantry, anti-tank, and UAV-supported forces.
The evidence distinguishes transfer from field use. Defense News and Defense Express establish delivery and handover to Ukrainian forces; the ArmyInform-linked image and Defense Express field report show Ukrainian marines with the vehicles after delivery; and Oryx lists BMC Kirpi and BMC Kirpi II vehicles among visually confirmed Ukrainian equipment losses, supporting continued battlefield exposure in the conflict.
The public sources do not establish a complete delivery total or a unit-by-unit inventory. They do support an initial 50-vehicle batch in 2022, use by Ukrainian marine brigades, and later battlefield attrition visible in open-source loss tracking.
