Direct proof of use
The Haseb/Fajr-1 107 mm rocket is documented in the 2023 Israel-Hamas War through OSMP's Gaza munition record and the IDF source linked from that record. OSMP entry 509 lists a 21 December 2023 source, a Gaza reported location, the tentative model "Haseb Fajr-1", a 107 mm calibre, unguided guidance, surface-to-surface domain, and whole undelivered or unfunctioned condition.
The linked IDF release reported that troops found large quantities of weapons and rocket launchers in Gaza on 21 December 2023. It said long-range rocket launchers in Juhor ad-Dik had fired toward Israeli territory, and separately that troops in southern Gaza City found a rocket launcher that was loaded and aimed at Israeli communities in southern Israel. OSMP's model page places the Haseb Fajr-1 entry inside its Israel and Gaza 2023-2026 collection and counts one Palestinian Territories image for this model.

Dated appearance
The supported dated appearance is 21 December 2023. OSMP uses that date for entry 509 and links the entry to an IDF source from the same day. The IDF release describes multiple Gaza finds rather than naming the Haseb/Fajr-1 model, so the model identification in this page rests on OSMP's munition classification and remains probable rather than absolute.
The IDF source provides the conflict-use setting: Gaza rocket launchers and weapons attributed to Hamas-area activity, including launchers used or prepared for fire toward Israel. OSMP provides the weapon-specific identification for the 107 mm unguided surface-to-surface rocket.

Battlefield role
Within this conflict record, the supported role is short-range unguided indirect fire by Hamas and Gaza-based armed groups. OSMP's analyst note describes 107 mm spin-stabilized rockets of this design as commonly used by non-state actors for indirect fire and says they can be launched from rudimentary platforms with a simple electric power source.
Background sources describe the Fajr-1/Haseb as an Iranian derivative of the Chinese Type 63 107 mm rocket family. CSIS gives the Fajr-1/Chinese 107 mm rocket range as about 8-10 km with an 8 kg high-explosive fragmentation warhead, while CAT-UXO identifies the munition as a 107 mm Haseb Fajr 1 rocket. Those background sources support the weapon-family and role context, but the direct 2023 Gaza use claim is supported by OSMP and the linked IDF release.
