Direct proof of use
The WiSENT 1 is documented in the 2014 Russia-Ukraine War through German delivery records, industry integration statements, specialist reporting, and Ukrainian-service imagery. Germany's archived Ukraine military-support list, current to 17 April 2025, listed 65 WISENT 1 mine-clearing tanks with spare parts among delivered military engineering capabilities.
Janes reported that FFG displayed a Ukrainian-spec WiSENT 1 Mine Clearing Tank at DSEI 2023 and that eight had been supplied to Ukraine. ESUT likewise reported that Ukraine had been receiving WiSENT 1 mine-clearing tanks from FFG on behalf of the German government since March 2023, with eight delivered and 34 more then in preparation.

Role in Ukrainian service
The documented Ukrainian role is protected mine clearance and route opening rather than direct fire support. FFG describes the WiSENT 1 MC as a mine-clearing configuration with a full-width mine plough, lane-marking system, magnetic signature duplicator, auxiliary winch, 30-ton crane, and high-lift adapter, intended to create cleared routes for following troops.
For the Ukraine vehicles, Janes identified a former German Bergepanzer 2 base adapted for mine clearance with specialist equipment, suspension changes, increased protection, a Pearson Full Width Mine Plough adaptor, add-on armor around the crew area, roof protection against bomblets, and blast-attenuating seats. ESUT reported a similar configuration, including additional mine protection, crew protection improvements, Pearson mine-clearing equipment, cameras, and a 610 kW MTU diesel.
German Aid to Ukraine's media index identifies WiSENT 1 MC vehicles as delivered to Ukraine and includes imagery captions placing them with the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the 49th Demining Brigade. The available public sources support transfer, fielding, and engineering-role claims, but they do not establish a named mine-clearing operation, individual route-breaching incident, or complete unit history for the fleet.
