Documented Use

Direct proof of use

The TRG-300 Kasirga family is documented in the Syrian Civil War through Turkish use during the 2020 Idlib escalation. Jamestown reported that the Turkish military deployed the TRG-300 Tiger multiple-launch rocket system to the front lines during the February 2020 escalation with the Syrian Arab Army in Idlib.

M5 Dergi separately reported that TRG-300 Kaplan missiles were used in Operation Spring Shield, Turkey's February-March 2020 operation against Syrian regime forces. The available open reporting therefore supports Turkish fielding and use in the Idlib phase, rather than transfer to a Syrian local partner.

Timeline

On 21 February 2020, amid a Syrian government offensive in Idlib, Turkish media cited by Jamestown placed Tiger MLRS units at the front. After the 27 February 2020 strike that killed Turkish soldiers in Idlib, Turkey announced Operation Spring Shield on 1 March 2020 and used a wider package of strikes against Syrian government forces.

M5's January 2021 review described TRG-300 Kaplan missiles as successfully used during the previous year's Operation Spring Shield. The sources do not identify individual launch coordinates, target names, rocket counts, or damage assessments for specific TRG-300 strikes.

Role in Turkish operations

In this conflict, the TRG-300 functioned as a Turkish long-range guided rocket-artillery system. Roketsan describes the current TRG-300 guided missile as a 20-120 km precision-strike weapon launched from a multi-barrel rocket launcher or compatible platforms, with potential targets including air-defense systems, radar sites, assembly areas, logistic facilities, and C3 facilities.

That target set matches the system's reported role in Operation Spring Shield: long-range fires against Syrian government military forces during Turkey's effort to halt the Idlib offensive and impose a new battlefield balance. The public sources support the broad role and campaign context, but they do not provide a fully attributable strike-by-strike record for TRG-300 employment.
