Direct proof of use
Sisu XA-180/XA-185-family Pasi armored personnel carriers were documented in Ukrainian service during the full-scale phase of the 2014 Russia-Ukraine War. Defense Express reported on September 15, 2022 that Finnish Sisu XA-180 amphibious armored personnel carriers had been spotted at the front with Ukrainian troops, while noting that the number in Ukrainian service was not known.
A later Defense Express report based on Ukrainian Navy material described Panssari-Sisu/Pasi vehicles in Ukrainian marine training. That report said the vehicle had already been used in combat against Russian forces, including to suppress Russian infantry that had seized a building.

Transfer and first appearances
The transfer path is partly documented and partly opaque. SIPRI records a 2022 Finland-to-Ukraine second-hand aid transfer of five estimated XA-180 armored personnel carriers, with the record's external comment identifying the XA-185 version and describing the aid as after Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
Open-source reporting placed the vehicles in Ukraine by September 2022. Defence Blog reported on September 28, 2022 that Finnish-made six-wheeled armored personnel carriers had been seen in Ukraine in footage circulating online and described them as Patria Pasi XA-185 vehicles reportedly donated by Finland. The same article noted that Finland did not officially confirm armored-vehicle deliveries and had withheld detailed aid contents, delivery methods, and schedules.

Role in Ukrainian service
The documented role was protected mobility rather than a specialized fire-support or anti-armor mission. The Ukrainian-service reports describe the Pasi vehicles as armored personnel carriers used by Ukrainian troops and marines, with the vehicles carrying dismounts, crossing water obstacles, and providing armor-protected movement in frontline and training contexts.
The best-supported operator is Ukraine. Defense Express tied the December 2022 imagery to the Ukrainian Naval Forces and Ukrainian marines, while SIPRI records Ukraine as the buyer and Finland as the seller for the 2022 second-hand aid transfer. The exact number delivered remains uncertain in public reporting because Finnish aid packages often withheld detailed contents.
