Direct proof of use
The Sa'ar 6-class corvette is directly documented in Israeli Navy use during the 2023 Israel-Hamas War. Defence Industry Europe reported on October 15, 2023 that IDF spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari confirmed the new Sa'ar 6 corvettes had attacked for the first time since becoming operational, and that Israeli sources said the corvettes used different weapon systems against targets in Gaza.
The Jerusalem Post reported the following day that Sa'ar 6 vessels were used in the first Gaza attack by the class during the current war with Hamas. The report named INS Oz and INS Magen and said attacks from those ships struck Hamas weapons-assembly infrastructure as well as Hamas naval commando positions and lookout posts.

Timeline
The documented Sa'ar 6 Gaza-war record began in mid-October 2023, shortly after the Hamas-led October 7 attack started the war. On October 15, Defence Industry Europe reported Hagari's confirmation that the class had entered combat, while its own sourcing said different weapon systems were used to hit targets in Gaza.
On October 16, The Jerusalem Post reported the named participation of INS Oz and INS Magen in strikes on Hamas weapons infrastructure and naval-commando positions. On December 12, the IDF said that since the beginning of the war in Gaza, the Israeli Navy's Missile Ship Flotilla and Naval Security Squadron had struck hundreds of targets and supported ground soldiers, while also noting completion of operational processing for the fourth Sa'ar 6 ship.

Operational role
The supported role for the Sa'ar 6 class in this conflict was Israeli naval fire support and maritime strike support for the Gaza campaign. The public sources identify Israel as the operator and Hamas targets in Gaza as the target set, including weapons infrastructure and positions associated with Hamas naval commandos.
The sources reviewed here support platform use, not a full weapons-release inventory. Defence Industry Europe reported that the IDF did not identify the weapon systems used in the first Sa'ar 6 attacks, while The Jerusalem Post described the ships' precision combat systems without naming the exact munition fired in the Gaza strikes. The December 2023 IDF release adds broader missile-ship flotilla context but does not assign every reported flotilla strike to an individual Sa'ar 6 hull.
