Direct proof of use
Canada announced the first Roshel-built armoured vehicles for Ukraine in April 2022 and later stated that those vehicles were delivered in May 2022. In January 2023, Canada announced a further donation of 200 Senator Armoured Personnel Carriers purchased from Roshel in response to a Ukrainian request for that model.
Canadian defence reporting in 2026 described Roshel Senator armoured vehicles as widely used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion and said the vehicles were being used to support Ukrainian battlefield operations. Ukraine's defence ministry separately reported that humanitarian mine-clearance units received 20 Roshel Senator MRAP vehicles to improve personnel protection during explosive-ordnance clearance missions.

Narrative
In Ukrainian service, the Senator appears as a protected-mobility vehicle rather than a main combat vehicle. Canada's 2023 announcement described the APCs as vehicles for safe transport of personnel and equipment, medical evacuations, and troop protection when danger could not be avoided.
The MRAP branch of the family is tied to the war's mine and explosive-threat environment. Roshel's 2023 MRAP launch linked the variant's development to Ukrainian operational needs, while Ukraine's defence ministry described the vehicles as mine-resistant platforms for protecting service members during clearance of explosive ordnance.
The record therefore separates transfer from use: Canada supplied and funded Roshel Senator vehicles, Ukrainian forces operated them, and the documented roles are protected movement, medical or battlefield support, and mine-clearance personnel protection.
