The PMMC G5 is FFG's German tracked modular carrier family, developed as a protected mission-module vehicle and later matured into the ACSV G5 production support platform. Ukraine has received at least eight German-funded ACSV vehicles during the 2014 Russia-Ukraine War, while Norway and the Netherlands use or plan the same family as a carrier for logistics, recovery, air-defense, and other mission modules.

PMMC To ACSV Lineage

The catalog record keeps PMMC G5 and ACSV G5 together because FFG describes the PMMC as the technology-demonstrator base whose trials and mission-module work led to the ACSV ordered for Norway and later selected for Dutch air-defense vehicles.

Technology base

FFG began PMMC G5 development after identifying a potential M113 successor, then used PMMC testing in desert, winter, and trial settings to refine a protected modular tracked vehicle concept.

Ukraine evidence

Open reporting from January 2026 said Ukraine had received at least eight German-funded ACSV platforms; the public evidence identifies delivery and platform type, but not a detailed Ukrainian unit fleet inventory for the FFG-built vehicles.

Variants

FFG presents the PMMC G5 as the technology demonstrator that led to the production ACSV G5, with mission modules and equipment variants fitted to a common tracked support platform.

Dutch and Belgian vehicles combine aluminum armor with spaced steel applique, road and amphibious mobility, and variant-specific weapons ranging from a 25 mm cannon to machine guns, TOW missiles, MILAN launchers, medical-evacuation fittings, or remote weapon stations. SIPRI transfer data and Dutch official aid lists identify 353 AIFV-APC/YPR tracked armored vehicles delivered or pledged to Ukraine, and Ukrainian border-guard reporting cited by Army Recognition shows Belgian-made AIFV-B-C25 vehicles joining the same wartime AIFV/YPR family in Ukrainian service.

Canadian procurement records describe eight variants across Type 2, Type 2+, and Type 3 groups: troop/cargo, ambulance, command post, electronic warfare, engineer, fitter/cargo, maintenance and recovery, and mobile repair team vehicles. Canada has transferred ACSV vehicles to Ukraine, where the type is documented as a Canadian-built protected mobility and support platform for Ukrainian forces.
