Direct proof of use
The GBU-31(V)3/B appears in the 2025 Israel-Iran Conflict through Israeli Air Force imagery and open-source ordnance identification. FPRI's Operation Rising Lion air-offensive study says the IAF employed GBU-31-series JDAMs during the June 2025 air offensive and identifies the GBU-31(V)3/B as the BLU-109 hard-target penetrator variant used by the IAF.
Open Source Munitions Portal separately cataloged June 13, 2025 Israeli Air Force imagery as a BLU-109, GBU-31 JDAM, and JDAM-kit air-delivered bomb record. The Aviationist later reported an open-source identification of an IAF F-15D Baz from the Knights of the Twin Tail Squadron carrying a GPS-aided GBU-31(V)3/B-series JDAM with a 2,000-pound BLU-109 hard-target penetrator during the February 2026 Israel-U.S. strike wave against Iran.

Operational role
In Israeli service, the GBU-31(V)3/B was part of the heavy JDAM set used for direct-attack precision strike. FPRI describes the IAF's GBU-31-series weapons as 2,000-pound class warheads with GPS-aided inertial guidance assemblies and distinguishes the GBU-31(V)3/B from the Mk 84-bodied GBU-31(V)1/B because the (V)3/B uses the BLU-109/B hard-target penetrator body.
The public record supports Israeli fielding and carriage of the munition in the conflict, plus broader IAF use of GBU-31-series JDAMs during Operation Rising Lion. The sources used here do not assign a specific Iranian target, impact point, sortie count, or battle-damage result to an individually released GBU-31(V)3/B.
