Direct proof of use
The BMP-2 675-sb3KDZ appears in the 2014 Russia-Ukraine War as a Russian up-armored BMP-2 variant and as captured equipment later used by Ukraine. Defense Express reported on June 20, 2022 that Ukraine's 10th Mountain Assault Brigade had captured an enemy BMP-2 fitted with the rare 675-sb3KDZ additional-protection kit. The same report described the kit as polymer panels plus anti-cumulative grilles applied to BMP-2 vehicles.
A second capture was reported by Defense Express after Russia's retreat in Kherson Oblast in November 2022, when Ukrainian forces captured another Russian BMP-2 with the 675-sb3KDZ complex near Kherson. Defence24 then reported in March 2023 that a captured BMP-2 with this additional armor package was still serving at the front with Ukrainian forces.

Dated losses and captures
The public record is centered on captures, destruction, and visual loss documentation rather than named tactical engagements. The first well-described event in this record is the June 2022 capture by the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade. Defense Express said the Russian army had bought only about 100 675-sb3KDZ kits in 2021 and that Russian media had shown the first regular installation of additional protection on combat vehicles earlier in June 2022.
The record expanded in late 2022 and 2024. Defense Express identified another damaged BMP-2 675-sb3KDZ captured near Kherson in November 2022. In February 2024, it reported two BMP-2 675-sb3KDZ vehicles destroyed near Berestove in Donetsk region, citing Ukrainian resistance reporting and describing the configuration as uncommon on the battlefield. WarSpotting later listed a destroyed Russian BMP-2 675-sb3KDZ in Donetsk Oblast, with the loss dated April 13, 2026 and the entry uploaded on May 20, 2026.

Operational role
In Russian service, the BMP-2 675-sb3KDZ remained an infantry fighting vehicle, but with a survivability package intended to reduce vulnerability to large-caliber machine-gun fire and anti-tank grenades. The sources do not prove a separate specialized mission for the variant; they show it as front-line armored equipment whose distinguishing feature was the added protection fit.
In Ukrainian hands, documented use is tied to captured-equipment employment. Defence24 described a captured Russian BMP-2 with the 675-sb3KDZ kit as still serving with Ukrainian forces more than half a year after capture, while Defense Express reports show Ukrainian forces capturing or destroying additional examples. The available public sources support possession, capture, front-line service, and battlefield loss; they do not provide a confirmed firing event or a complete count of all vehicles converted.
