AR2 300 mm multiple rocket launcher

The AR2 is Norinco's export designation for China's PHL-03 300 mm wheeled multiple rocket launcher, a long-range system derived from the BM-30 Smerch. In the Tigray War, Ethiopian AR2 launchers were captured by Tigrayan forces in November 2020 and then used against Ethiopian targets, making the system one of the conflict's most visible examples of captured heavy rocket artillery.

Public reporting describes a mobile two-round launcher, INS/GNSS guidance, a 365 kg conventional warhead, and a domestic range claim of up to about 400 km, with export-oriented specifications often citing 100-290 km. During the 2025 India-Pakistan Conflict it was reported in Indian and independent accounts as part of Pakistan's missile escalation, with the best public evidence pointing to an attempted strike intercepted near Sirsa.
