The 9A316M launcher appears in the 2014 Russia-Ukraine War record as a Russian Buk-M3 transporter erector launcher. On September 24, 2024, Euromaidan Press reported, citing Militarnyi's review of Ukrainian strike footage, that a drone crew in Kursk Oblast found two Russian Buk-M3 vehicles: a 9A316M TEL and a 9A317M TELAR.
The same report said the Buk-M3 was targeted by the 413th Separate Unmanned Systems Battalion with the 78th Airborne Assault Regiment Herts, using HIMARS. The footage reportedly showed one launcher attempting to leave its position before a direct GMLRS hit, and an open-source geolocation placed the strike southeast of Rylsk in Kursk Oblast.

Open reporting placed Buk-M3 equipment in or near the Ukraine war early in the full-scale invasion. The War Zone reported on March 22, 2022 that Buk-M3 system elements appeared in Ukraine or near its borders and explained the Buk-M3 battery structure in which a 9A316M TEL works with a 9A317M TELAR or a 9S36M illumination and guidance radar.
The clearest public 9A316M-specific operational report came on September 24, 2024, when the Kursk Oblast strike footage was described as showing a 9A316M TEL alongside a 9A317M TELAR. Later public reports of Buk-M3 strikes may support broader system use, but this page treats them separately unless they identify the 9A316M launcher itself.

The available public evidence supports a narrow conflict-use claim: Russian forces fielded a 9A316M launcher as part of a Buk-M3 air-defense package in Kursk Oblast during the 2014 Russia-Ukraine War. It does not, by itself, establish how many 9A316M launchers were deployed, whether the launcher fired missiles in that incident, or the result of any claimed air-defense engagement.
