The 3OF49 high-explosive fragmentation projectile is the projectile component of the Soviet and Russian 120 mm Nona ammunition family. Belarusian references list it for the 2S9 Nona-S with 3V35 impact or AR-5 radio fuzes, and Forecast International links the unassisted 3VOF49 projectile to the 2S23 Nona-SVK's 2A60 rifled ordnance.
Belspetsvneshtechnika and Forecast International both place 3OF49 in the Nona-family ammunition set.

Open references treat 3OF49 as a Nona-family projectile component with two documented fuze options. The same ammunition family is listed for both Soviet and Russian self-propelled mortar systems.

VPK says the program shifted to a multifunctional ACS in 1969 and that GNPP Basalt developed the ammunition for the vehicle.

VPK says the 2S9 completed testing and was officially put into service on July 1, 1980, while later ammunition lists still include 3OF49 HE rounds.
