River-class offshore patrol vessel

The River-class offshore patrol vessel is the Royal Navy's patrol-ship family for territorial-water security, law-enforcement support, and forward presence. Royal Navy and BAE Systems sources show two generations in service: the original Batch 1 ships and the larger Batch 2 vessels such as HMS Forth, Medway, Trent, Tamar, and Spey, which add a 30 mm cannon, Merlin-capable flight deck, and longer-range patrol fit.
