Documented Use
Direct proof of use
The Badr-F is documented in the 2014 Yemen Civil War through Houthi-aligned strike reports and broader missile-war analysis. Saba reported that Houthi missile forces fired a Badr-F at Saudi-led mercenary gatherings west of Tiwal on April 21, 2019. Yemen Press Agency reported the same day that Yemeni army media released video of a Badr-F launch and strike on al-Estaqbal camp west of Tawal in the Jizan region.
Yemen Press Agency later reported an August 7, 2019 Badr-F strike on Saudi-led coalition-aligned groups in the Jizan border province and said another Badr-F had been fired earlier the same day at Saudi army groups in Rajla camp in Najran. The direct incident record is therefore mostly sourced to Houthi-aligned outlets; CSIS and IISS provide independent context for the Badr-F's April 2019 unveiling, range, airburst role, and place in the Houthi precision-guided Badr family.

Timeline
The public Badr-F timeline begins on April 16, 2019, when Houthi forces announced an airburst Badr variant with a claimed 160 km range and a fragmenting warhead. CSIS summarized the unveiling in its Yemen missile update, attributing the claim to Houthi spokesperson Yahya Sari.
Five days later, Houthi-aligned outlets reported a Badr-F strike west of Tiwal in the Jizan sector. On August 7, 2019, Yemen Press Agency reported two further Badr-F attacks: one in the Mawsam area of Jizan and another at Rajla camp in Najran.

Narrative
In Yemen-war service, Badr-F appears as a Houthi-aligned precision-guided short-range strike rocket used against military or coalition-aligned targets near the Saudi-Yemeni border. The documented locations are Jizan and Najran province areas rather than deep-strike targets such as Riyadh or Jeddah.
Open sources describe the weapon in mixed terminology. Houthi-aligned reports generally called it a ballistic missile, while CSIS placed Badr-F inside the Badr missile family and IISS described Badr-F/Nakkal as a precision-guided solid-propellant missile or rocket associated with Houthi local production and Iranian-supplied equipment or components. The Washington Institute likewise described the Badr-1P and Badr-F as guided artillery rockets with a claimed circular error probable of 3 meters.
The available public evidence supports Houthi-aligned possession and reported firing of Badr-F in 2019 border-sector attacks. It does not provide an independently verified total number of Badr-F launches, a confirmed battle-damage assessment for the claimed casualties, or a precise production chain for individual rockets used in the reported strikes.
