Ukraine's defense-industrial base expanded sharply after Russia's full-scale invasion. The Ministry of Defence said it authorized more than 1,300 domestically produced weapon and military-equipment models for operational use in 2025, with unmanned aerial systems and ammunition making up the largest disclosed categories. In the first half of 2026, the ministry reported 1,000 codified models since the start of the year, including 892 produced in Ukraine.
The sector mixes long-established state industry with newer defense-technology companies and battlefield-driven production. Ukrainian Defense Industry, the state company also known as Ukroboronprom, says it consolidates strategic state defense enterprises and employs tens of thousands of workers. Brave1, Ukraine's official defense-tech cluster, lists more than 2,500 companies and more than 5,000 products across unmanned systems, electronic warfare, missiles, ammunition, naval drones, and AI-related defense products.

Ukrainian weapon manufacturers describes a sector-level production grouping, not one incorporated company. Ukrainian Defense Industry / Ukroboronprom, named private firms, design bureaus, and individual plants should be treated separately when public sources identify them directly. This scope is limited to Ukrainian-made systems and domestic production categories described more broadly by public sources.
